Caliso for Schools - Early Career Teacher Retention Program

Caliso recognises that schools are a unique environment

Tackling the Challenge of Early Career Teacher Retention

Teacher retention is a growing challenge in Australian schools.
Up to 50% of early career teachers consider leaving the profession within the first five years (AITSL, 2023). The reasons are clear: high workloads, emotional exhaustion, unclear communication expectations, and a lack of sustained support. Many enter the profession passionate and capable — yet quickly feel depleted, isolated, or overwhelmed by the everyday demands of school life.

Our Early Career Teacher Retention Program is a research-informed, practical training series developed by educational psychologists designed to equip early career teachers with the real-world skills and support they need to stay and flourish in the profession.

The workshops cover the following:

  • Mental Health in the Workplace

  • Practical Resilience Strategies

  • Evidence-based mentoring

  • Managing a professional workload

  • Professional Communication

Linked to professional standards: The program provides practical, evidence-based strategies that align with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and contribute to teacher-identified professional learning hours.
